Call for Participation in the Laboratory “Art, Technology and Ecology”
Proposed and lead by Abdellah Karroum at ESAV–Marrakech (Ecole Supérieure des Arts Visuels), this laboratory of research associates artists and theorists, and it is open to students and professionals in the cultural field.


Session # 6:

Title: " Production, Post-production: du travail à l’oeuvre" (Production, Post-Production: from work to expression).
Guests: Gabriella Ciancimino, Shezad Dawood, Younès Rahmoun
Places: L’appartement 22, Rabat ; et Lot 219, Fez
Dates: du 12 au 15 décembre 2011
Participants: Artistes (Mustapha Akrim, Badr El-Hammami, Catherine Poncin), ainsi que des étudiants en art et jeunes travailleurs (sur inscription)
Cette session, intitulée "Production, Post-production: du travail à l’oeuvre" (Production, Post-Production: from work to expression", est conçue comme un atelier expérimental et un lieu de discussion sur plusieurs projets réalisées au cours des dernières années. La partie publique de cette session est une série de discussions enregistrées pour la R22 radio, en parallèle à l’exposition "The New Dream Machine Project" de Shezad Dawood à L’appartement 22. Les artistes Gabriella Ciancimino et Younès Rahmoun présente les modalités de collaboration avec leur projets produits entre le Rif et la Sicile.

Session 5 bis:

Titre: Exposer l’image en mouvement
Invités: Bouchra Khalili (artiste), Juan Gaitan et Hyunjin Kim(curators)
Lieux: à la Cinémathèque de Tanger et autres lieux
Dates: du 18 au 20 avril 2011
Partipants: Etudiants, artistes et professionnels (appel à participation)*
Proposé et dirigé par Abdellah Karroum à l’ESAV-Marrakech (École Supérieure des Arts Visuels), ce laboratoire de recherche associe des artistes et des théoriciens. Il est ouvert aux étudiants et aux professionnels de la culture. La cinquième session, organisée en partenariat avec la Cinémathèque de Tanger, a pour objet d’étude les œuvres basées sur l’image en mouvement et à leurs modalités de production et d’exposition. Cette session #5 bis sera aussi mobile, entre Tanger, Tétouan et des lieux choisis par le groupe de travail en déplacement. L’artiste Bouchra Khalili présente ses oeuvres et discute des modalités de leurs émergences. Les commissaires invités, Hyunjin Kim et Juan Gaitan, vont dialoguer à partir de leurs expériences curatoriales et des processus d’expositions.

Title: " Activities and Vocabulary, discussing and sharing art projects at large "
This session of the Laboratory include also a long terms research project on the 60s, associating curators, theorists and artists.
Location: École Supérieure des Arts Visuels (Marrakech) and L’appartement 22 (Rabat)
Date: November 22 - 25, 2010 (studio visits are possible for participants on November the 22nd and the 26th)

The LABORATORY OF ARTISTIC RESEARCH at ESAV-Marrakech is proposed and led by Abdellah Karroum. This trans-disciplinary project, based on research in the fields of visual arts, lessons and experiences, takes place primarily at ESAV and in various places... MORE...


This Laboratory is realized with support from the Fondation Janelly et Jean-René Fourtou (Marrakech) and the Clark Art Institute (Williamstown), in partnership with ESAV (Marrakech) and R22 radio. The session 3 is also supported by the Berlin Senate Cultural Affairs Department. The session 4 is supported by Transit.org

* NaoKo TakaHashi is a London based performance and installation artist, born in Japan, studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL and Chelsea College of Art & Design. She has performed and exhibited widely in the UK, Europe and the Middle East including the Museum of Contemporary Art Roskilde, Denmark, Five Years Gallery and Campbell Works, London, the Al Ma’mal Foundation for Contemporary Art, Jerusalem, and has participated in Volatile Dispersal: Festival of Art Writing, Whitechapel Gallery, London and the 3rd AiM International Biennale, Marrakesh, Morocco.

TakaHashi has completed artist in residency programs and commissions including a book, Not So Too Much of Much of Everything 2007 for Book Works, London and a solo exhibition, An Exploration of Perforated Space in Four Segments of Words 2010 at IMT Gallery, London with limited edition of audio books to incorporate with the exhibition. She is currently collaborating with Terence Kirkbride on a new lo-fi urban folk project ‘The Marbles Jackson’.
