Expedition 7 (Patries Relatives)
Gwangju Biennale 2008
"Expedition 7 (Patries Relatives)" examines the concept of expedition and the notion of the exhibition. By exploring the link between showing and documenting, it brings the artwork from idea into action, from the artist to the audience. Through their individual projects, the five artists featured here address the fundamental concerns of contemporary human life, specifically as they relate to the political, environmental, social, and ethical position of the artists. They were chosen considering not their individual nationalities but the impact of their work on the "global" art scene. It is an exhibition that aims to catalyze discussion with the artist and to look in greater depth at the possibilities to interact with the artwork and to amplify its implication and effect on the realities on which the artists propose to engage.
